I have seen RFL my very active other forum that simply died, almost no communication when they moved into a new website. The biggest hurdle is to “open another site everyday to read messages”.
Close to one yr and the yahoo group still runs parallel, only the messages have gone south

As good as Yahoo is…its better to have our own personalized home built forum. Not only will it be exclusive but also can be customized to our needs and likes.

Provided….we take care to back up the old posts and save the php’s. As long as the files are safe you see….

Its difficult to move to a new system immediately, if only there is a better option than Y!Group.. Let the users start using the other option we are talking about and gradually move to the one which suites best to users.
Its an E2.0 world out there… users should start taking control and admins can relax.
Use it to believe it!!

actually ya…even i never had issues with yahoo mail…

but at the same time, are there better options in terms of functionality that are worth shifting too , keeping everyones accessibility in mind

IAm okay either way, Just that I travel a lot and like to keep the POP3/push option. It makes life a bit easier for accessing emails as Iam used to it that way..

At the same time, it sometimes needs a few clicks from launching a page to getting to your email, which could be a pain from a mobile device. POP3/a-sync just syncs on its own and the mails are downloaded before you know

And BTW, I have not had any of the issues with Y! group mails..

Freya,Lalbagh .. Agree with both of ur issues .. hence the poll

@ Deep$hit … You can subscribe to the email option on forums too … N’ as an added bonus you can choose to use RSS too.

Also you have an advantage of recieving emails on select topics only ..unlike in Yahoo where your spammed non-stop

Yahoo groups is kinda weird man… has a life of its own… it stopped sending me mails from groups about a month back… so, now I have to login to the groups page, trawl through hajjar groups to get to rtmc… can’t see any pics that you guys send and don’t get any rtmc-fun mails :( fatang situation wonlee…

so full vested interest that we move out of y-groups…

What if the forum gets blocked in office, here we get mails to our preferred mail id. If thats an option with alternate forum, then definately dont mind.

Too many mails bounce and half the time I have threads incomplete.
